LASIK in Orange County

Imagine waking up and seeing clearly, without reaching for glasses or contacts. LASIK (laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis) is the most common laser eye surgery, and it can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

What is LASIK?

Clear vision, without glasses or contacts.

LASIK uses a laser to gently reshape the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, so light focuses correctly on the retina. It can treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, and in some cases the need for reading glasses.
More than 10 million people have had LASIK. At Anaheim Eye, your treatment is planned around detailed measurements of your own eyes.

Comfort

Most patients report the procedure is pain-free.

Convenience

A day-case procedure. Your whole visit takes about two hours.

Speed

Treatment takes about 10 minutes for both eyes.

Results

Most patients notice much clearer vision within about four hours.

Candidacy

Are you a good candidate for LASIK?

  • You are 21 or older
  • Your eyes are healthy, with no conditions that could affect results
  • Your glasses prescription has been stable for at least one year
  • Your prescription is within about −11.00 (nearsighted), +5.00 (farsighted) or 5.00 diopters of astigmatism
  • You find glasses or contacts uncomfortable or inconvenient

Told you weren’t a candidate before?

Technology has changed. Higher prescriptions can now be treated, and blade-free LASIK can work for thinner corneas. A fresh evaluation reviews your eligibility, your options, the procedure and financing.
Your consultation decides which option is right for your eyes.

Custom LASIK

Two precise lasers. One plan built for your eyes.

Our custom LASIK pairs a blade-free laser for the corneal flap with a wavefront-optimized laser for reshaping, guided by detailed measurements taken at your consultation.

LASIK FAQs

Questions patients ask us.

Is LASIK painful?

You shouldn’t feel pain during surgery, though you may feel firm pressure for a few seconds while the flap is created. Mild scratchiness afterward is common and usually eases with artificial tears and rest.

How long does LASIK take?

You’ll spend under 10 minutes in the laser suite, and the laser itself works for about 15 to 90 seconds per eye. Plan for two to three hours at our center in total.

What should I expect after surgery?

Vision often improves quickly, with some blurriness for the first few days. Avoid rubbing your eyes, and skip strenuous activity, swimming, dust and smoke for at least a week. Full stabilization can take weeks to months, and follow-up visits are part of your care.

What results can I expect?

Most patients with mild to moderate prescriptions reach 20/20 vision or better, which reduces reliance on glasses for driving, sports and screens. Results vary by eye, and your surgeon will discuss what’s realistic for you.

Can both eyes be treated the same day?

Yes, this is common. You and your doctor will make that decision together.

Why do people choose LASIK?

Freedom from glasses and contacts, an easier daily routine, better comfort in sports and active hobbies, and clear vision from the moment you wake up.
